Fromtheproductionpointofview,wehavealreadybeenworkinginthisdirectionfortwodecades andthankstoconstantresearchandexperimentation,wehavemanagedtodevelopagronomicand oenologicaltechniquesthatrespecttheearthanditsfruits,whileproducingwinesthatcantellthe storyoftheirterritory,enhancingtheiruniquenessandrichness.Today,agricultureatBroliois certified“sustainable”.Thismeansadrasticreductionofallpesticideproducts,theremovalof herbicides,theuseofmoderndefenseandcontroltechniquescapableofpreservingbiodiversityand lastbutnotleast,respectfortheworkofallcollaborators.Alloftheseinitiativeshavemadeour companyveryinterestingfromthetouristspointofview.Everyyeartensofthousandsofvisitors fromallovertheworldcometoBrolio,attractedbythehistoryoftheRicasolifamily,theexcellent wines,BrolioCastleandthepristinenatureallworkingtogetherinperfectharmony.Weworkto ensurethesevisitsreflectasustainableculture,providepersonalenrichmentandfindanidealbalance betweenthevisitors,inhabitantsandtheenvironment.» Francesco Ricasoli, President RICASOLI 1141 “One thousand years of heritage but with the will to experiment and renew still intact” WHO WE ARE –Our MissionTheRicasolifamilyhasbeenlinked tothehistoricChiantiareaandits winesince1141wherethereis writtentestimonythattheRicasoli familywasalreadyinposessionof BrolioCastle 1141 1584 Thefamilytree,reproducedinaprintfrom1584,isone ofthefirstimagesoftheChiantiarea. BaroneBettinoRicasoli(1809-1880),illustrious politicanandvisionarywineentrepreneur,in 1872,aftermanyyearsofstudiesand experimentation,inventedtheformulafor Chiantiwine,thecurrentChiantiClassico,he termedit“theperfectwine”.Therecipewas adoptedbytheDisciplinaryoftheChianti ClassicoDenomination. 18091872 BaroneLuigiRicasolipromotesthecreationofthe “Associazione”thattodayhasbecomethe“Consorzio VinoChiantiClassico”. 1924 1993 FrancescoRicasolirunsthefamilybusinessfrom 1993,withtheaimofgivingnewlifetothequality andpersonalityofthegreatBroliowines, experimentingandenhancingthepeculiaritiesof theterritoryanditshistory.
